Marriage is a ceremony is which two people are joined together. It's existed forever, in every culture*. Why should Christianity be the one to define it; why should Christianity be allowed to take a universal concept and claim ownership of it?

In fact, if marriage was simply a religious concept we wouldn't have a problem, since marriages, regardless of religion, are usually recognized as marriage in the eye of the law. Gays could simply find a particular religion or church that has no problem same sex marriages. Hell, they could start their own religion.

It's seems to me there are two problems here, the first one has to do with ppl's discomfort with homosexuality and how they rationalize that discomfort, which is often by religious creed. The second problem is that religion has become synonymous with a particular faith, Christianity.
