Article excerpt from theeconomiccollapseblog.com — "Are You Prepared For The Coming Economic Collapse And The Next Great Depression? In the old days, police officers wrote traffic tickers primarily to keep people safe and to prevent citizens from breaking the traffic laws.  But in the new Amerika, all of that has changed.  Now traffic tickets are primarily viewed as a revenue raising...

If people would slow down & observe the law, the number would be lower.
I have a good feeling about this and wish California would do the same. It's down right scary being on the road sometimes with illegal u-turns, people passing on double/double yellows, passing on the right shoulder, blowing through construction zones, chatting on their cells...Hit them where it HURTS.

i agree 110%. ppl gonna act stupid and drive needs to pay.

i just worked an accident this morning that tied up 2 lanes of 81 where a guy was drunk flipped his car and was ejected. less than 1 mile away sat a trooper. if he hadnt of lost control of vehicle due to possible swerving and over corrected, he would surely have been stopped and went to jail as opposed to a choper ride to a level 1 tramma center.
belive it or not.. tickets do save lives. and if it helps to protect job numbers in the state, even better.

You must not know all they ways they have to catch speeders. Some are down right dirty. I bet you not all these people where caught by radar. Some cops like to do the eye test or my favorite when I got my speeding ticket "they timed me from one line in the road till I passed another line LMAO!!!

For any sane person to be in favor of this is just ridiculous. Pretty soon we will not need police at all because we will have badge carrying citizens that blindly support the gubermint doing anything at all to "the people". The sheeple have spoken...even in this thread. I hope they knock on your door soon too, just a matter of time

I don't break the law and I have an attorney on retainer to defend me should anyone say I do. *mostly they're for business but they're here for me personally as well*
People who speed and drive in an unsafe manor which is against the written law deserve a ticket. PERIOD. No one is entitled to a different standard.
Harassment is a different issue. If some of those tickets were because of overzealous police work, do you think the ACLU isn't already looking into it? Of course they are.

Well for the millions of people in this country that cannot afford to have an attorney on retainer to get them out of traffic tickets to raise funds for the gooburmint, I think your still one of the sheeple and at some point they will knock on your door too. If it were an actual cop writing the tickets it would be one thing but cameras and sensors are just a little to big brother ish. And as far as harrasment is concerned, little o nothing has been done about that except in extreme, high profile cases. Most times the police use some bs excuse and are exonerated of any wrong doing whatsoever.

here in va, the police do run radar all the time (from what i was told) when they are checking for speeders. and yes, they do give you a break for a few miles over the speed limit without as much as looking twice at you. i know the local sheriffs dept wont pull anyone over on the interstate unless they are doing 11 miles over the speed limit (ive had 2 deputies tell me this that works the interstate reguarly in my county).
not to mention pace (timing from 1 line to another at a predetermined distance) is allowed and upheld in court. we also have chopers that can be used to check for speeders... the pace method works great for them. and no one cant say the chopers being used is a speed trap, we got signs posted down here that aircraft is used for speed control. drivers are fair warned especially prior to entering a pace zone.

I have never been pulled over (FYI) so my attorney doesn't 'get me out of traffic tickets' as you suggest. The law firm is there for me when and if I need them.
I'm not rich. I pay less than $50 a month for my business and my family to have legal council at our disposal, 24/7.
I simply suggest people not speed and drive like morons and they PROBABLY won't get pulled over and ticketed. That's no guarantee but holy cow, almost 7000 tickets!!! Awesome. That's almost 7000 people who will think twice before pulling bone-head moves that put others at risk.

Thats usually the excuse. "I don't break the law so I don't care" Guess they're gonna have to start putting cameras in peoples homes to get their attention.

I guess that's right. I don't rob banks so I'm not concerned that I'll get arrested for robbing a bank. I don't cheat on my taxes so I'm not afraid of the IRS. I don't speed or talk on my cell phone while I drive so I'm not concerned about being pulled over for doing either. You suggest I become paranoid because I'm a law abiding citizen? Screw that. I like my mostly happy life just the way it is..

That's what the jews said in Germany in the beginning. "I'll wear my star because I'm not a criminal"

Yeah, my family was butchered in Poland for being Jews. Do you REALLY want to compare police and highway patrol giving out tickets for speeding to Nazi Germany? You prove yourself lacking.

Not speeding tickets just the overall situation. We live in a snitch on ur neighbor nanny camera everywhere world. 7,000 caught speeding in 2 days is way too much and I don't see how you can even justify it.
