Does anyone even take in account that we spend so much on health care cause America just isn't that healthy of a country?

So what, we pass health care. This is the fattest country in the world by a long shot. We still will have people getting cancer from smoking, People will still be getting fat and the Mcdonalds on every corner. We will still have people drink until they get liver problems and so on.

Sure health care needs a overhaul I'm not arguing that fact but more than that needs to change. People need to take care of their bodies so we don't need to go to the hospital for every sickness in the world

We might be the fattest but we're definitely not the only country that smokes by a long shot, nor that drinks. In the end, lifestyle choices are no excuse for having a shitty health care system. Our system sucks because its overpriced and under-capable, plain and simple.

Never said we were the only country that does all those things but stopping or limiting them would decrease the cost and spending on health care so that should be plain and simple to people as well.

Ok so we do get the public option. Now you will have more people than ever going to get treatment for their illnesses but what you won't see is people trying to live healthier lives. Big pharm isn't gonna lose out either way.

That's funny, I just posted something about the world "health/wealth" index which happens to be topped by Finlandl; a place they definitely love their drink.

No, it has nothing to do with smoking or drinking or even so much obesity but rather the fact that, at some point, the doctors in this country became more interested in six figure paychecks than actually helping anyone. As a result, the entirely health care *industry*, for that is exactly what it is, became more about making money than caring about health.

Yep....and all the insurance companies care about is money as well.....they aren't going to insure someone with pre-existing conditions that might kill them.....I myself have a pre-existing condition that I can't get insurance to cover the dr visits emote icon so I hope that Obama can work out the health care bill and keep the provision that forces insurance companies to cover people like me.....
