its supposed to be a national thing,this all came about from chicago, where you cannot own a pistol if you reside within the city limits.
San Fran tried to ban ALL firearms in the city. that was shot down and what ultimately got the ball rolling on this.

If criminals can roam around with guns why can't law abiding people have one too? I'll always have one nearby as long as there are murderers and thugs on the street. I'd rather be caught with one than caught without one.
