Purple Heart Won't Be Awarded for PTSD
van says,
Once again bush screwing over our troops
Article excerpt from go.com —
"The Pentagon on Thursday sought to assure troops that it takes post-traumatic stress seriously despite the recent decision not to award the Purple Heart to those with the disorder.
An advisory committee concluded that troops coming home from the wars with combat stress cases collectively known as post-traumatic stress disorder will not...

What an ass, I swear, they will find any way possible to dishonor my fellow brother and sisters if it helps them make a buck. I honestly think that Bush should send his two drunken daughters over there, and then say the same thing. I honestly think in order to become president you should have to served a tour in the Armed Forces, and combat if at all possible. Just a thought. Doc

I agree with Airbornemedic01 about serving in the Armed Forces to be eligible to run for President. Not too sure about sending Bush's daughters though. I do, however, promote all of these people who have been jailed for violence and gun use as well as any well known gang member to go over and fight. They want to kill people off of US soil.

Seriously, Bush isn't President anymore, so this really has nothing to do with him at all. Also, serving in the military is a voluntary decision, it's completely MORONIC to suggest that anybody FORCE their children to serve. I however would full support and family members that would serve and I do.
I know many veterans that would stand by this committee as most would say 'if you don't at least have and ass full of shrapnel or a bullet pulled out it doesn't deserve an award.'
Everyone has to deal with traumatic situations in a war-zone. Some people are able to deal with it better than others, but they all carry it with them. My grandfather was at Pearl Harbor he was literally blown off of his boat into burning water and had to swim thru bodies and hold onto his dead friends to keep himself afloat, it was a horrifying experience that he held with him until the day he died. He never once thought that he deserved an award for having to LIVE though that.

I think this is just hurtful. Bush will do anything he can to screw us over any way he can. This is something that just pisses me off to no end. What people don't understand is that PTSD is a 'wound'. By this it is a psychological wound, that will never heal, could get worse, or could get better. This just goes to show that no matter how hard my brothers and sisters fight, and do what needs to be done, they are being shamed by not being awarded the proper awards. Bush has never been in a combat zone, I honestly think he needs to put his ass in one, and then make these decisions. No wonder suicides are going up in service men and women, they can't get the help they need, they can't get the awards they deserve, I mean honestly what more do you have to live for? To be in this world, hurt, without a way to bandage this wound, or to have to relive all of that over and over again, every night, every dream. Until you've been there, no need to judge, bush is just a low life dirt bag, that's all I'll ever see him and his father as, low life dirt bags.

You're entitled to your opinion on the matter. However did you read this article? It doesn't say anything about Bush, most likely he didn't put his weight behind this decision one way or the other. it does talk about how PTSD being a very real and serious condition that they hope to find successful treatment methods for, and bring those in need out of the shadows of shame they feel for having this disorder.
Because it is a psychological wound it is unseen and cannot be legitimately identified 100% of the time. Basically they don't want to see anyone faking this disorder and taking away resources from legit cases because they just want a purple heart. I know no soldier worth his salt would do such a thing, but you know there would be some low-life scummy douchebags out there that would.
