Outrage in Canada as U.S. Firms Sever Ties To Obey Stimulus Rules
Tams says,
Remember when moonbats assured us that if we elected the hard left community activist with the terrorist friends, we could join hands with the rest of the world and sing together in perfect harmony? It isn't turning out that way. Not even Canada is too close a friend to be alienated by the protectionism that invariably accompanies ham-fisted liberal intervention in the economy.
Rather than create domestic jobs, government meddling is destroying them.
If the government wanted what's good for America, it would get out of the way and let economic freedom work its magic. But that would be allowing a crisis to go to waste.
Don't you all just love the Massiah .....The Commander and .......errr .....I mean the Community Activists and Thief.

"Is this what the first trade war of the global economic crisis looks like?
Ordered by Congress to "buy American" when spending money from the $787 billion stimulus package, the town of Peru, Ind., stunned its Canadian supplier by rejecting sewage pumps made outside of Toronto . After a Navy official spotted Canadian pipe fittings in a...

I'm surprised to hear Obama described as a 'friend of terrorists. Especially when Bush is friendly with the Saudi royal family - most of the terrorists involved in the 9/11 plot were Saudi Arabians and the plot was funded with Saudi Arabian money.
I guess people have different ideas on what a terrorist actually is, though.

funny how when the free lunch goes away, the uproar begins. even more funny is how we give these countries trade deals that puts their businesses at an advantage over our own, and yet when we want to level the playing field, they piss and moan.
Posted 1 year ago
I hardly call trade a free lunch. All that's gonna happen is, that when the economy recovers and the USA is once again looking to trade to keep it's markets vibrant, the trading partners that the US screwed over will have already found other markets to export to, or will have gone bust altogether.
NO country can afford to be isolationist when it comes to trade in the modern world. Even China realises this.

Have you not read about his personal friendship with a convicted domestic terrorist? You probably havent because the media didnt think that was very important.
And yes, Obama is a friend to terrorists. Between him trying to bend israel over, and playing the wimp to iran, he is boosting their morale quite a bit id say.

if by screwing them over you mean making the playing field more level to support home grown business instead of foreign business, then yes, i guess that is "screwing them over"
The US has long been trading with other countries at a disadvantage. Its about time we start giving our own people a chance.

Yeah, even IF he's a friend to terrorists, it seems bizarre to focus on that when, like I said, your last president was a friend to terrorists and was even re-elected after the Saudi's carried out the 9/11 plot.

A lot more Americans would be out of work if the rest of the world stopped buying American goods. The US's global markets are far larger than it's domestic markets. It's the same for every Western nation. NO country can survive purely on domestic sales of manufactured or grown produce. It's economic fact.

Yep and your government is doing a Bang up job of keeping your country from being over run with crime and radicals. We get that news here also.
Posted 1 year ago
Why turn this into a 'my country is better than yours' nonsense? I wasn't saying that, merely pointing out facts.
Talking about facts: The latest crime figures released show that crime in the UK has fallen over all.
You'd have to elaborate on the 'radicals' thing, though.

I dunno, 7 years of no attacks seems like a pretty good track record to me. I mean if you look at slick willy's 8 years, they were pretty much a disaster when it came down to keeping Americans safe.

You're truly clueless about the politics in my country. Denying the problem exists? Sure, that's why they're pushing through an ID scheme that's unpopular with UK citizens to 'protect us from terrorists'. That's why they've pushed through longer times for detaining someone suspected of being a terrorist or being connected to a terrorist organisation.

YOu see I was posting something about MY country but you decided to get in on this one now you tell me not to talk about YOUR country.

This has nothing to do with pot, kettle. I stuck to the SUBJECT matter that you posted. You deviated from the subject matter.
If I post a thread about my country, you're more that welcome to give your views and opinions on the subject I post, without fear of being attacked for not being British. I'm not some xenophobic or bigot - any thing I post is for ALL users of the forum to post on. :)

I never called you a bigot.I never called you any names.
Oh yeah on the crime rates. According to the UN web site the only reason the crime rate looks like it is falling it because most crimes go unreported.

We woke up to terrorism during the whole IRA thing. Decades of terrorism on your homeland will do that to a country. I lost people during the IRA thing - friends and family in Ireland (on both sides of the divide) and friends and family in the Armed Forces. Saying that Britain is unprepared, clueless or complacent over terrorism is insulting in the extreme.

Yeah I am sure you did and so did I. I have lots of Family in Ireland.
I never said you are unprepared but you certianly talk like someone who thinks it is wrong for us to get prepared.

Still off topic, I see.
Crime statistics (for the UK)
* the number of recorded crimes fell by 9% between 2006-07 and 2007-08
* violent crime, home burglaries, vandalism and car thefts all fell over the previous year (by 8%, 4%, 13% and 14% respectively)
* the risk of becoming a victim of crime fell from 24% to 22%
http://www.homeoffice.gov .uk/crime-victims/crime-statis tics/
A fall of 9% accounts for nothing, lol.
Any way, this is my last word on this - you continually turn a thread about YOUR country into some war about which country is better.
Any time I've stated a fact against your one-sided thread, you've countered with some entirely unrelated (and, in some cases, untrue) statistics from the UK instead of facts supporting your view.

RECORDED CRIMES.. there are the key words.
Lots of the crimes go unreported.
It is the same everywhere.
Every place has crime even if they hate to admit it.
At least here we admit we have crime.
No I am not trying to say we are better.
I tired of people from other countries putting us down like you did with your REPUBLICAN statement.
Why should you care if someone here is a republican or a democrat.
By the way I am Neither.
and in a final note. You know as much about our politics as we do yours.
All you know is what you see in the news wich is not accurate.
Just like what we see about your country is not always accurate.
So that shoe can fit on your foot as well as mine when you say I am clueless on your politics. Ditto and right back at ya.

Sorry dear you are the one ignoring facts. Bigger government means job loss it always has.
That is a fact you can not ignore.
Everytime the government raises taxes and tries to regulate industry we have higher job loss and if you can't see that with the millions of jobs already lost just this year then you are not living in this country.

The more the goverment spends the more jos we lose.
They spend we lose they ragulate we lose.
3 million jobs have been lost since this recession started. 2 million of those have been just since January. One million the year before.
On yeah we started losing more jobs a year after the Democrats took over Congress and Senate.

You still don't see that this has absolutely nothing to do with Democrat/Republican and everything to do with bad business on the part of these companies?
We're losing jobs because we're in a recession, it has NOTHING to do with who is in control of the government and everything to do with individual businesses and lack of consumer spending.

Yes it is bad businees on the part of some companies but bad business on the part of the government is hurting companies who were not involved in the bad business and that is what you fail to see.
Government bail outs are hurting everyone not just the banks and auto industries who are the bad business guilty.

And what I'm not understanding... what is the government doing that's harming businesses? Trying to make them use money to save their business rather than give bonuses to executives?
Bail outs... not a great idea... no but exactly what do you think would have happened if, say , AIG suddenly ceased to exist? You can rally against government spending all you want to but the fact of the matter is these people would've been dead in the water without it. In GM's case even THAT didn't help and they're still screwed.
HOW, is it the government's fault? How does giving someone money and yet them failing to be able to salvage their business fall as fault to the government? How is the government destroying jobs by trying to keep large companies in business?
Personally I think its nigh BS to spend taxpayer money to bolster failing private business but what is the alternative? Just let them go? Would you still blame the government for the loss of THOSE jobs?

AIG is a lot more than that, you might want to research all the things they have their hand in.
